The 2021 BSSD Academic Decathlon has moved into the virtual world this year. The essay and the 7 objective tests were moved to an online platform created by the US Academic Decathlon Organization.  Last week students from six sites started the competition by completing the half hour tests on Art, Music, Economics, Literature, Science, Social Science, and Math and then the hour long essay. The theme for this year is the Cold War so students faced questions and prompts that included information from that time period. Next week students will showcase their interview and speech skills on Zoom and will be judged by District Office staff. The competition wraps up on Tuesday February 9, with Elim, Savoonga, Shaktoolik, Shishmaref, Unalakleet, and White Mountain teams facing off in the Super Quiz. This will also be run on Zoom and we are working on creating a Webinar for fans to be able to join in on the fun. Stay tuned for more information!
